Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed thanks China for providing humanitarian assistance for Pakistan’s flood victims

ISLAMABAD, August 29 (SABAH): Senate Defence Committee Chairman Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed has thanked China for providing 25,000 tents and cash for people affected by heavy downpour and floods.

A special event for the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China under its flagship ‘Friends of Silk Road’ initiative was held under the auspices of Pakistan-China Institute on Monday in Islamabad.

The congress is held every five years, where China watchers look for clues to the country’s future. President Xi Jinping is expected to be re-elected for his third term as Secretary General of CPC and President of China.

The panelists shed light on the prospects in connection with 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), which will be held later in 2022.

Expressing his views, Chairman of Senate Committee on Defence & Pakistan-China Institute, Mushahid Hussain Sayed thanked China for giving away 25,000 tents and cash to the flood affected people of the country. Message of President Xi Jinping’s leadership is people-centric development and human security, he said.

He said the Global Development Initiative (GDI), introduced by President on September 21, 2021, is a crucial platform for international cooperation that China offers, which also promotes inclusive and open collaboration. He termed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) launched by President Xi Jinping very significant developmental and diplomatic initiative of the 21st century, calling China a leader in Globalization and Climate Change.

He also rejected the concept of a ‘New Cold War‘ and said the region cannot afford another cold war because it will destabilize the whole region.

While praising President, Mushahid Hussain Sayed said that he achieved the goal of making China a moderately prosperous society by eradicating absolute poverty in China in 2021. In his concluding remarks, he wished 20th CPC Congress a great success.
