Senator Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Khan Bugti joins PPP

TURBAT, Dec 18 (SABAH): Former caretaker minister Senator Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Khan Bugti joined the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Monday days after he stepped down as the interior minister.

Sarfraz Bugti made the announcement as he attended the PPP’s workers’ convention in Turbat, Balochistan. The convention was also attended by PPP stalwarts along with Co-Chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari.

Addressing the convention, the former minister stated that he wished to see peace being restored in Balochistan under Asif Zardari’s leadership. He added that he would provide the people with better infrastructure, including health and education facilities.

Sarfraz Bugti urged the former president to build a modern hospital in Turbat, similar to the one the PPP built in Sukkur. He said the PPP will prove to be the party that will transform the narrative against Pakistan.

“Respected leader Asif Ali Zardari came to Turbat and directed me to join PPP,” Bugti told the party’s workers. Sarfraz Bugti hoped that peace would be restored in Balochistan under the leadership of Zardari. “Will make the PPP a progressive party under your leadership,” he promised to Zardari.

The PPP is the party that would challenge the narrative against Pakistan, the former interior minister added.

While addressing the workers’ convention, Asif Ali Zardari stated that Pakistan never understood Balochistan. “Islamabad never understood Balochistan… it also does not understand Punjab, Sindh and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa,” Zardari remarked.

He said that it was election period. Every party wants to come to power, but the PPP’s desire to come to power is to serve the people, he said.

“We will build Pakistan and Balochistan. For us, Balochistan comes first, the rest of the provinces later,” the PPP leader said.

He added that the Baloch youth has been forgotten by everyone. Referring to the large number of young Baloch men and women who have left the country, Zardari said that “we want them to come back”. “We will serve them,” he said, adding that other countries will not take care of us.

Zardari urged the people of Balochistan to show support for the PPP in the upcoming elections, on February 8, 2024.

Addressing the youth of Balochistan, Zardari assured that his party would ensure construction of medical universities, colleges, and hospitals in every district of Balochistan. “There are many resources in the province; there is a lot of room for progress,” he added.
