Senate passes bills on repealing medical teaching institute act & decomposing medical commission, with majority
ISLAMABAD, Oct 03 (SABAH): Senate has passed bills on repealing “medical teaching institute act” & “decomposing medical commission”, with majority. The House passed “The National Commission on the Rights of Child (Amendment) Bill, 2022,” “The Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Bill, 2022” and “The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council Bill, 2022.”
The Senate resumed its session with Chairman Mir Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani in the chair at the Parliament House on Monday. Nine bills were introduced in the House, including four bills relating to rights of the transgender persons.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazal (JUI-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) demanded of turning down Transgender Act. In the session, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Senator Faisal Javed KHan presented a bill pertaining to amendments in National Commission for Child Act which was approved unanimously.
Senator Manviwala presented PIMS bill regarding repealing of Federal Medical Teaching Institute Act, 2003 which was strongly opposed by PTI. Member of PTI tore up agenda and bills and raised slogans in the House like “Dr. Asim Namanzoor, Imported hakoomat namanzoor, Go hakumat go.” Amid the ruckus this bill was approved while afterwards Senator Mandviwala presented reformation of Pakistan Medical and Denatal Council. PTI strongly protested in this regard. Under the bill, Pakistan Medical Commission will be decomposed.
These bills include: “The Right to Free and Compulsory Education (Amendment) Bill, 2022”, “The Tosha Khana (Management and Regulation) Bill, 2022”, “The Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government (Amendment) Bill, 2022”, “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2022” [Amendment of Article 62], “The Constitution (Amendment) Bill, 2022” [Amendment of Articles 215, 218 and 228] and “The Khunsa Persons (Protection of Rights) Bill, 2022.”
Three bills titled “The Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) (Amendment) Bill, 2022” were also introduced in the Senate. The chair referred the bills to the standing committees concerned.
The Senate also passed bills on repealing “medical teaching institute act” & “decomposing medical commission”, with majority.
The House also passed “The National Assembly Secretariat Employees (Amendment) Bill, 2022.” The House will now meet at 4:00 PM today (Tuesday).
