Senate of Pakistan passes unanimous resolution reassuring Pakistan’s full support to Kashmiri people
ISLAMABAD, Feb 04 (SABAH): Senate of Pakistan on Friday unanimously passed a resolution reassuring Pakistan’s full support to the people of Kashmir in their just struggle for inalienable right to self-determination.
The resolution moved by Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan paid rich tributes to the heroism and valour of Kashmiri people.
The resolution demanded the international community takes note of India’s belligerence and cruelty against Kashmiris including the danger of genocide which is documented internationally.
It said that the international community should take cognizance and action against Indian gross and widespread human rights violations in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as well as its open repudiation of UN resolutions.
The house demanded the Indian government to reverse and revoke the illegal and unilateral steps of 5th August 2019, which are gross violations of all UN resolutions of Jammu and Kashmir.
The resolution called upon the Indian government to stop extra judicial killings of Kashmiri youth in fake encounters and cordon and search operations.
Demanding immediate release of all political prisoners, the resolution denounced the illegal Indian measures to change the demographic structure and efforts to peddle a façade of normalcy in the illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The house warned India that even the worst form of state terrorism will not break the will of Kashmiri people or crush their legitimate struggle which is popular, spontaneous, widespread and indigenous.
The resolution demanded that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his RSS fascist organization who have unleashed a reign of terror on the defenseless Kashmiri people and have been involved in unspeakable atrocities be held accountable for their crimes against humanity.
Earlier, at the outset, the house offered fateha for the security forces’ personnel martyred in Panjgur and Nushki areas of Balochistan.
On a motion moved by Leader of House Dr. Shahzad Waseem and Leader of Opposition Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, the Senate is holding discussion on the current situation in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Kashmir Solidarity Day.
Opening the debate, Leader of Opposition Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani said the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their legitimate struggle for right to self-determination. He strongly condemned Indian atrocities against oppressed Kashmiri people. He pointed out that India is resorting to tactics aimed at changing the demographic structure of the occupied territory in violation of international laws and conventions. He said the world community should come forward and resolve this outstanding dispute in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.
Participating in the debate, Leader of House Shahzad Waseem said the relationship between Pakistan and Kashmiris is that of brotherhood and affection. He said that India has turned Kashmir valley into an open prison but this has not shaken the resolve of Kashmiri people who continue to lift the flag of freedom movement.
Shahzad Waseem said Kashmir dispute stands internationalized today as Prime Minister Imran Khan has forcefully raised the outstanding dispute at all international forums including the United Nations. He said world leaders and human rights organizations are also raising voice against Indian atrocities in the occupied territory. He said the world community should force India to rescind the illegal and unilateral steps of 5th August 2019. He said Narendra Modi should be tried for war crimes.
Chaudhry Azam Nazeer Tarar Advocate of PML-N suggested that parliamentary delegations be sent to different countries to apprise them about the blatant human rights violations taking place in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said the government should sit with the opposition parties and frame a strategy to effectively raise the Kashmir dispute at international level.
Adviser on Parliamentary Affairs Babar Awan said the world community has failed to fulfill the commitments made to the Kashmiri people. He said we should stand united to take forward the country and effectively highlight the Kashmir dispute.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Ali Muhammad Khan said the people of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir will see the dawn of independence. He said India cannot suppress the Kashmiri freedom struggle.
Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri of JUI-F said his party will hold rallies across the country tomorrow to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people.
Faisal Sabzwari of MQM-Pakistan, in his remarks, said there should not be any politics on Kashmir. He stressed that a united voice will help better project the outstanding dispute at the international level.
Tahir Bizenjo of National Party said resolution of Kashmir dispute lies only in meaningful and constructive dialogue between Pakistan and India.
Shafiq Tareen of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party said resolution of Kashmir is a must for peace and stability in the region.
Ejaz Chaudhary of PTI paid glowing tributes to Kashmiri people for standing firm against the Indian belligerence.
Others who spoke on the occasion included: Hidayatullah Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Waleed Iqbal, Faisal Javed, Raza Rabbani and Mushahid Hussain Sayed. The house will now meet on Monday at 3:00 PM.
