Senate Committee demands detailed report on missing files of CDA’s record, Chairman to appear in next meeting

ISLAMABAD, Sep 13 (SABAH): A meeting of the Senate Functional Committee on Government Assurances was convened on Friday under the chairmanship of Abdul Shakoor Khan at Old PIPs Hall, Parliament Lodges, Islamabad.

The Committee discussed various government assurances, including one from the Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication concerning the availability of 4G data and voice call services in Dheri Mera, Union Council Salhad, District Abbottabad. It was noted that from 2021 to 2024, network coverage data from Zong and Telenor at multiple locations in Dheri Mera was reviewed. The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) outlined its Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring practices and the challenges faced due to import restrictions and funding issues affecting the Universal Service Fund (USF).

The Committee discussed the issue of missing file of House No. 662, Street No. 99, Sector I-10/4 Islamabad. Dr. Sania Hameed Pasha, Director Land CDA, reported the ongoing challenges in reconstructing the file, citing discrepancies and fraudulent claims. The Committee expressed dissatisfaction on the stance of the Director Land CDA and criticized the CDA’s handling of the matter. Senator Kamil Ali Agha highlighted the issuance of a court order in favor of the complainant. The Chairman also called for the CDA Chairman to appear in person and present a detailed account of the missing file.

The Committee discussed several other issues, including the construction of Korang Bridge Underpass, Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway, and telecommunication services in Waziristan. The Committee was briefed that telecommunication services in Waziristan are closed due to security reasons, however cable network provision is available in specific areas.

The meeting was attended by Senators Sardar Al Haj Muhammad Umer Gorgaij, Zamir Hussain Ghumro, Gurdeep Singh, Hidayatullah Khan, Kamil Ali Agha, and Kamran Murtaza, along with officials from relevant departments.
