Rs 450 million received by Jamaat-e-Islami, Alkhidmat Foundation from nation immediately disbursed among flood victims: Sirajul Haq

Dera Ismail Khan, August 29 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Sirajul Haq has said that nation gave over Rs 450 million to Jamaat-e-Islami and Alkhidmat Foundation till this last Sunday which was immediately disbursed among the people devastated by the heavy rains and floods. He appealed to the overseas Pakistanis to come forward to help out the flood victims.

He expressed these views while talking to media persons after visiting the affected areas of Dera Ismail Khan and Tank on Monday. He requested the local organizations to come forward to help out the victims, adding that they should not leave the affected people at the mercy of foreign Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).

It is not only a test for those affected by the heavy rains and floods but it is a trial for those who remained safe from the natural calamity; he said and added that those remained safe they should actively participate in the relief activities.

Sirajul Haq said that not any single political party or a welfare organization can overcome the issues caused by the heavy rains and floods. It is responsibility of State and government to give relief to the affected people, he said, adding there is an acute shortage of tents so they should be imported forthwith from the other countries.

He said that the assistance of just Rs 25,000 is not sufficient for the people affected by the natural calamity, and it may boost anger among the public. Only Rs 0.5 was announced for the construction of a single home for the victims which is a insufficient amount as who misguided the government that a home can be constructed in this small amount of money.  If the situation remains the same the people may also head towards the luxurious bungalows of the well-off people, he warned.

“He who has good relations with the MPAs and MNA, he takes benefits from those ties,” Sirajul Haq lamented on the current sorry state of affairs of the country, and added this current aid is being provided on the basis of political references.

Due to incapability of the rulers, the rains and floods have become unbearable, he said, as numerous people lost their lives and others many who are still missing besides the injured. The floods have washed away the cities and villages, he added.
