Resounding success of Geneva Conference indicative of int’l resolve to tackle global climate change: Raja Pervez Ashraf
ISLAMABAD, Jan 10 (SABAH): National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf congratulated Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Foreign Minister of Pakistan Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Secretary General United Nations António Guterres for resounding success of the “International Conference on Resilient Pakistan”.
Raja Pervez Ashraf expressed gratitude to the European Union (EU), US AID, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Islamic Development Bank (IDB), World Bank (WB), China, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Japan, France, Azerbaijan and other friendly for their generous support of more than 9 billion US $ to rebuild the lives of flood-affectees, reconstruct and to increase our resilience against climate change. He also appreciated the commendable efforts of PM Shehbaz Sharif and FM Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for successfully seeking the world’s attention to the massive loss and damage caused by recent floods in Pakistan.
It is pertinent to mention that successful Geneva Conference is indicative of collaborative spirit of international community to tackle global climate. The Speaker said that parliament of Pakistan has been at the forefront to fight the case of climate justice for Pakistan. He said that Successful Geneva Conference would prove a great support for Pakistan in its effort to rehabilitate and relief the flood affected people.
