Rescue operations are near to completion in Murree: Chairman NDMA
ISLAMABAD, Jan 08 (SABAH): Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Akhtar Nawaz Satti says relief activities for stranded tourists in Murree are underway with full swing.
Talking to the state-run TV on Saturday, he said that camps have been established by Pakistan Air Force where the evacuated persons are being accommodated providing shelters, foods medicines, heaters, and beds.
He said rescue operations are near to completion and all possible resources are being utilized and efforts are being taken to open closed roads due to heavy snowfall.
The Chairman NDMA said that electricity in affected areas are being restored in phases.
He said that control room under the supervision of Commissioner Rawalpindi has been established in Murree to provided assistance to stranded tourists and passengers.
He said NDMA has also established a control room in this regard and we are continuously in contact with civil administration and armed forces vigilantly.
