Repayment of external debt decreased from Rs.1443 billion during first half of last fiscal year to Rs.931 billion during first half July-December period of ongoing fiscal year 2023-24


ISLAMABAD, Jan 30 (SABAH): The repayment of external debt decreased from Rs.1443 billion during the first half of the last fiscal year to Rs.931 billion during the first half July-December period of the ongoing fiscal year 2023-24, indicating a decrease of Rs.512 billion. 

Likewise, the external borrowing of Pakistan has witnessed an increase of 394 billion as the external borrowing increased from Rs.1146 billion to Rs.1540 billion during the first half July-December period of the ongoing fiscal year 2023-24.

According to the comparison of the first half of the ongoing fiscal year July-December period of Pakistan Budgetary Financing 2022-23 compared with the same period of the ongoing fiscal year 2023-24. The project aid increased from Rs.126.8 billion to Rs.302.3 billion during the first half of the ongoing fiscal year, indicating an increase of Rs.175.5 billion.

Economic Reforms program loans decreased from Rs.583.9 billion to Rs.41.95 billion indicating a decrease of Rs.541.9 billion during the ongoing fiscal year 2023-24, mainly from commercial and multi-lateral donor agencies. Other loans also increased from 377 billion to Rs.963 billion during first half of the ongoing fiscal year 2023-24, witnessed an increase of Rs.586 billion.

Grants from the friendly countries have decreased from 11.976 billion to Rs.10.559 billion, indicating a decrease of Rs.1.417 billion during first half on the ongoing fiscal year.  Project loans and grants outside public sector development program (PSDP) also increased from 46.63 billion to Rs.221.4, showing an increase of Rs.174.77 billion during the ongoing fiscal year 2023-24.
