Real strength of Jamaat-e-Islami is people, we believe in democratic freedom, supremacy of constitution & law: Ameerul-Azeem

LAHORE, July 2 (SABAH): British Political Counselor Zoe Weir met the Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Amir-ul-Azeem in Mansoorah. Bilateral relations and the situation in the region were discussed during the meeting. Director of Foreign Affairs Asif Luqman Qazi and Information Secretary Qaisar Sharif were also present on this occasion. 

Jack Withers, Second Secretary Political and Political Advisor Talal Raza were included in the delegation. Speaking on this occasion, Ameerul Azeem said that the real strength of Jamaat-e-Islami is people, we believe in democratic freedom, rule of law and constitution.

He said that Jamaat-e-Islami is the bearer of the rights of minorities, not only condemned the Jaranwala incident, but Alkhidmat Foundation also provided financial assistance to the victims. He said that although the election in the country was peaceful, the people of rigging made the entire democratic exercise suspicious. 

He said the election results should be announced on form forty-five instead of form forty-seven. A judicial commission should be formed for the transparent investigation of election rigging, we are fighting peacefully for the rights of the people, he added. 

He said that there will be a peaceful sit-in on July 12 against expensive electricity and cruel taxes in Islamabad. He said that military operations are not the solution to the problems, our position on operation Azam-e-Istehkam is clear and categorical that the problems have increased instead of being solved by the past operations.

Amirul Azim said that Pak-Afghan talks are necessary for the restoration of peace in the region, the prosperity of the people and the end of terrorism.

He said, “We consider the Palestinian struggle for freedom as legitimate and fully support it, the series of Israeli atrocities on the Palestinian people must stop. Britain should play a role to give rights to the people of Palestine and Kashmir, Britain has historically played an important role in both regions.”
