Raja Najabat Hussain urges MPs Baggy Shanker & Catherine Atkinson’s support for the right to self-determination for people of J&K
LONDON, Nov 10 (SABAH): Derby City Councillor Gulfaraz Nawaz organized a lunch reception with Derby South MP Baggy Shanker and Derby North MP Catherine Atkinson at the request of Raja Najabat Hussain Sitara-i-Pakistan, Founding Chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Self Determination Movement International (JKSDMI), at a local restaurant.
The event was attended by Sardar Abdur Rahman Khan, Patron of JKSDMI; Raja Mehrban Hussain, Chairman of Umeed Welfare Trust UK; Councillor Jangir Khan; Councillor Saqib Amin; Mansoor Ahmed; Shafiq Akram; Talat Naheem; Qaiser Riaz; Chaudhary Mohammad Ajaib; Master Mohammad Afsar; Nasir Iqbal; Sajid Hussain Mate; and Kamran Hussain.
Councillor Gulfaraz Nawaz welcomed all guests, including the parliamentarians and JKSDMI team, thanking them for their valuable time. Raja Najabat Hussain congratulated both MPs on their recent elections on 4th July and expressed gratitude to Councillor Gulfaraz Nawaz for hosting the meeting and lunch. He briefed the MPs on the Kashmir issue and the ongoing work of JKSDMI in the UK and internationally, especially in collaboration with British politicians, including MPs, Peers, and Councillors, as well as local community leaders and organizations.
Raja Najabat Hussain encouraged both MPs to join the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Kashmir in the British Parliament and the Labour Friends of Kashmir in the Labour Party, led by Founding Chairman Andrew Gwynne MP. He shared JKSDMI’s efforts during recent general elections across the UK and urged their support for the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, based on United Nations Security Council Resolutions and the UN Charter.
Sardar Abdur Rahman Khan provided historical context on the Kashmir issue, including the implications of the revocation of Articles 370 and 35A. Master Qaiser Riaz paid tribute to Raja Najabat Hussain and his team, offering support and cooperation for the Kashmir cause.
Both MPs assured the JKSDMI team and their constituents of their commitment to raising the voice of Kashmiris with government ministers and in Parliament, and to working closely with JKSDMI in the future.
