Raid on Shabir Ahmed Shah’s house in Srinagar, worst form of state-terrorism: Mehmood Ahmed Saghar

ISLAMABAD, May 18 (SABAH): Convener All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar has strongly condemned the Indian army’s raid on the houses of incarcerated Hurriyat leader Shabir Ahmed Shah in Srinagar and termed it as the worst example of state-terrorism.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar said that the Indian occupation forces have terrorized the family members and vandalized the home and property leaving everything upside down.

While condemning the incident, he said that conducting raids and terrorizing family members of jailed Hurriyat leaders have become a new norm for the occupation forces in Kashmir. He said that these acts of state terrorism meant to create a climate of fear have been on the rise in Kashmir at a time when India was gearing up to host the G20 meeting in the region.

“These incidents of naked aggression against Kashmiris must serve as eye-opener for the G-20 nations who have been invited by India to attend the tourism working group meeting being held in Srinagar”, Saghar said, adding that such shameful and wicked incidents on the part of the Indian occupation forces belie New Delhi’s claims of normalcy in Kashmir.

Saghar called on international human rights organisations to take effective notice of the matter and influence the government of India to stop terrorizing and intimidating the family members of Hurriyat leaders.
