Qureshi says trade cooperation between Pakistan & GCC will be finalized soon


ISLAMABAD, Jan 05 (SABAH): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says trade cooperation between Pakistan and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will be finalized soon.

Talking to media along with GCC Secretary General Dr. Nayef Falah Mubarak Al Hajraf in Islamabad on Wednesday, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said Pakistan desires to develop economic partnership.

The Foreign Minister expressed the hope that the GCC will further progress in the Presidency of Saudi Arabia.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that he apprised the Secretary General about grave human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He also informed the Secretary General about the situation in Afghanistan.

Earlier, in a delegation-level meeting, both the sides reviewed GCC-Pakistan cooperation in different sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, Shah Mahmood Qureshi emphasized on looking for new avenues of cooperation in diverse fields between Pakistan and GCC countries.

During the meeting, views were also exchanged on gross human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and current humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan.

Both the sides agreed to finalize the joint action plan for Strategic Dialogue 2022-26 aimed at promoting bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and GCC nations in various fields, including security, trade, investment, agriculture and food security, energy, environment, health, culture and education.
