Punjab govt determined to empower women & promote gender equality: Maryam Nawaz

LAHORE, June 24 (SABAH): Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said that women have equal opportunities to advance in all fields.

On the occasion of International Day of Women Diplomats, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz said in a statement that this day is celebrated to acknowledge the extraordinary services of women diplomats around the world. This day reminds us of the steps taken for gender equality in the diplomatic field, she said and added the role of women in diplomacy is important in promoting peace.

Maryam Nawaz said that Pakistan’s famous diplomat Dr. Maleeha Lodhi and others played a significant role in diplomatic achievements. She said women should take up careers in diplomacy and international relations. The chief minister Punjab said that his government is committed to empowering women and promoting gender equality. Social development is linked with the development of women, she added.
