Public protest in Dadial , skirmishes between police & protestors, dozens of police personnel & citizens got injured

DADIAL, May 9 (SABAH): Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in view of countrywide protest of May 11 has started arrests from different cities.

During skirmishes between police and protestors in Dadial, 12 police personnel got injured while police has arrested more than 50 persons. Public Action Committee has appealed countrywide protest on May 11 in favor of demands of provision of electricity on production cost, subsidy on flour equal to subsidy given in GB and ending perks and privileges of aristocracy. 

Member Public Action Committee and President Anjuman-e-Tajran Muzaffarabad, Shaukat Nawaz Mir after Dadial incident has announced strike from May 10 to an indefinite period. After arrest of leaders of Public Action Committee and Sadaiy Haq, the situation is becoming tense continuously. On Thursday morning, the police attacked camp of Public Action Committee in Maqbool Butt Shaheed Chowk and dispersed the protestors with shelling. Shells of teargas also fell in local educational institution.

More than 20 affected girls were shifted to THQ where they were discharged after medical treatment. After an hour, the dispersed protestors once again besieged Maqbool Butt Shaheed Chowk and held AC Dadial hostage for many hours who had gone there for negotiation. The protestors set the AC vehicle on fire.

Assistant Commissioner Dadial was recovered with the interference of Dadial Bar Association and afterwards shelling and baton charge were done. 11 police personnel got injured in the result of skirmishes of police and protestors. 12 citizens were also injured. One citizen was fired. Till now, the situation of Dadial is very tense. The protestors are demanding release of arrested persons. Emergency was imposed in THQ.
