PTI changed viewpoint & it may deal with anyone whatever it wishes: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE, Feb 14 (SABAH): Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Liaqat Baloch has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) changed viewpoint and it may deal with anyone whatever it wishes.

Liaqat Baloch expressed these views while talking to media persons here on Wednesday. After February 8, 2024 general elections, leadership of PTI contacted Jamaat-e-Islami that both should develop consensus on joint strategy during the emerging situation. After this, emir Jamaat-e-Islami consulted central leadership and office-bearers and a committee was established headed by Liaqat Baloch and comprising Prof Muhammad Ibrahim, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Enaitullah Khan, Naib Emir KPK.

The committee members contacted PTI leaders including Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Ali Amin Gandapur, Umar Ayub Khan and Muhammad Azam Khan Swati and discussed the country current situation. Liaqat Baloch said that Jamaat-e-Islami had informed the leadership of PTI that it has a number of reservations on general elections of 2024 and that elections results were changed through the use of force which would damage country and the democracy; however, Jamaat-e-Islami welcomes members of assembly who won by taking public mandate. 

Independent candidates who won with the support of PTI, Jamaat-e-Islami extends unconditional cooperation towards them but in the final stage, the leadership of PTI delivered a message that PTI wants support only in KPK whereas at national level, they would not develop consensus with the Jamaat-e-Islami. He said that PTI changed viewpoint and it may deal with anyone whatever it wishes.

Liaqat Baloch informed the leaders of PTI that it would be given answer after consultation. He said after consultation, Jamaat-e-Islami had agreed joint venture on national level for the sake of public benefit but PTI changed its viewpoint so it may deal with anyone whatever it wishes even in KPK.
