PTI Chairman’s apprehension about his trial in military court following Faiz Hameed’s arrest can be true, as the issue revolves around May 9: Senator Irfan Siddiqui

ISLAMABAD, August 20 (SABAH): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Senator Irfan Siddiqui on Tuesday said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s apprehension about his trial in military court following Faiz Hameed’s arrest can be true, as the issue revolves around May 9.

“Imran Khan’s seems more sure about being tried in military court because he knows what happened on May 9 and who are strategists and how the conspiracy was hatched,” Irfan Siddiqui said during an interview with a private TV.

Irfan Siddiqui elaborated that all the details about what happened, who was involved, where the planning took place, and the messages exchanged are known to Khan, though the general public might have doubts.

Siddiqui said that Khan’s knowledge of these details is much more comprehensive compared to others.

He said that Faiz Hameed had a personal interest in preventing General Asim Munir from becoming the Army Chief and had made considerable efforts to achieve this.

“The attacks on over 200 military locations were not political but rather military operations, which would align with the mindset of a military strategist,” he added.

He said it (May 9) was a targeted operation and statement of AJK’s former Premier that Khan wanted the protest on November 26 in Rawalpindi before General Syed Asim Munir is appointed the new Army Chief.

Similarly, he said there were people who leaked family data of General Asim Munir from NADRA. It was all happening as per a game plan, he said.

Regarding the role of former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar, Siddiqui said that recent reports and evidence imply Nisar’s involvement in creating domestic unrest and influencing judicial decisions to remove Nawaz Sharif and bring another individual into power.

He referred to Nisar’s audio recordings as evidence of his involvement in judicial manipulations.

Responding to a question he said that we do not want expansion of the scope in this matter so that the person, taken in custody,  is held accountable for his evil designs.

The senator said that actions such as attacking military installations are considered military operations, not political actions.

He said that criminal actions should be judged purely on their merit, regardless of the individual’s political position or status.

He also noted that if it is proven that Faiz Hameed conspired with Khan, then Khan’s case could be tried under military law.

He said that there would be no special legislation for Khan’s case; it would be processed under existing laws, including the Army Act.
