Protest demonstration held outside FMC Carswell prison for release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui

TEXAS, May 28 (SABAH): Human rights activists gathered outside the FMC Carswell prison where Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is jailed to demand here early release.

It was organized by Aafia Foundation Inc. The protesters termed Dr. Aafia Siddiqui a political prisoner, saying it is high time to release her.

El-Hajj Mauri’ Saalakhan, Director of Operations The Aafia Foundation, Inc. said that the protest was large enough to command the attention of Carswell administration security.

He said that this large demonstration of men, women, and children was well organized and spirited. Most importantly, this is the first time that he was leaving Texas – after a three week sojourn in Houston and DFW – that he truly believes activism for Aafia will continue without the need for The Aafia Foundation’s presence.

He said our gratitude to all; but especially to the young lions (sisters and brothers) whose exemplary commitment will cement this latest action as one of the most memorable. He said that the struggle for Aafia’s freedom will continue.

However, the peaceful protester said that Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was a political prisoner and the whole world is demanding her immediate release. They asked the US administration to release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui without further loss of time so that she could rejoin her children and family.
