Prof. Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari assigned charge of VC, UAJK

MUZAFFARABAD, March 16 (SABAH): The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Chancellor of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) Barrister Sultam Mahmood Chaudhry has assigned the charge of Vice Chancellor, UAJK, to Prof. Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari, the senior-most Meritorious Professor and Dean of the university. He will hold this position until the appointment of a regular Vice Chancellor.

Prof. Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari is a distinguished Meritorious Professor at UAJK, renowned for his outstanding contributions to English and Linguistics. He earned his PhD from the UK in record time and has played a pivotal role in launching the PhD program in Linguistics at the university. Under his leadership, over 20 PhD scholars and 52 MPhil graduates have successfully completed their research.

His academic influence extends beyond national borders. As the author of four books and the Chief Editor of the Kashmir Journal of Language Research (KJLR)—one of Pakistan’s leading research journals—he has cemented his reputation as a key figure in the field of linguistics and higher education.

This appointment comes as Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, Vice Chancellor, UAJK, proceeds on full-paid leave from March 17, 2025, to June 2, 2025. To ensure continuity in the university’s academic and administrative affairs, Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari has been assigned the charge under Section 10 (2) of the University of AJK Act, 1985.
