Prime Minister’s statement about going to the IMF to reduce electricity prices is the greatest form of slavery: Sirajul Haq
LAHORE, Jan 8 (SABAH): Former Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, Sirajul Haq has said that the Prime Minister’s statement about going to the IMF to reduce electricity prices is the greatest form of slavery. He questioned what could be a bigger justification for slavery than this?
Sirajul Haq expressed these views while addressing the participants of the central training camp in Mansoorah. Hafiz Saifur Rehman and Dr. Inayatur Rehman were also present on this occasion.
The rulers have made the country a slave to the IMF after 1947. Previously, they were agents of the East India Company, and now they are agents of the IMF. These rulers follow a single method: they take loans at the cost of being slaves to the IMF and borrow more loans to repay these debts, burdening the public with these loans while absolving themselves of responsibility.
Sirajul Haq stated that the focus of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is on relying on both domestic and international establishments. These three parties are the gatekeepers of the old system, and instead of ensuring the rule of law and justice, they seek permission from global imperialist forces, claiming that no one can be more loyal to them than these parties.
He lamented that corruption has not been eliminated in the country, and non-developmental expenditures have not been reduced. Meanwhile, the rulers’ lavish expenditures are continuously increasing.
Members of the assemblies, both in the government and opposition, manage to increase their salaries and privileges through negotiations, while on the other hand, taxes on small government employees and the public are raised, depriving them of their basic needs, he added.
The former Emir of Jamaat-e-Islami further stated that whether it’s the farmer, industrialist, factory owner, or laborer, despair is evident on their faces. The current government has outdone previous governments in exploiting the farmers, he said. However, the Punjab government shamelessly continues to make false claims about the prosperity of farmers, which is nothing but a white lie.
