Prime Minister Kakar reiterates govt’s commitment to ensure free, fair & transparent polls

ISLAMABAD, Dec 6 (SABAH): Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has reaffirmed the Election Commission’s effective functioning, emphasizing the government’s commitment to conducting elections in a free, fair, and transparent manner.

In an interview, he clarified that the caretaker government remains impartial amid statements and allegations exchanged by political parties. He highlighted that election results will determine the party’s popularity among the masses.

Regarding agreements with Kuwait and UAE, he anticipated that their implementation would attract investment, transforming Pakistan into a trade and manufacturing hub. On PIA’s privatization, he assured adherence to international practices and global market trends.

To a question about repatriation of illegal foreign nationals including Afghans, the Prime Minister said those residing illegally in Pakistan have to leave the country.

He said if any Afghan wants to do business here, they should go to their country, get valid documents from our embassy in Kabul and then they are most welcome to come here for business and trade. He said we will further streamline the visa and documentation process in this regard.   

About talks with interim Taliban government in Afghanistan, the Prime Minister said there are no formal negotiations with them. Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar reiterated Pakistan’s call for permanent ceasefire in Gaza and reopening of humanitarian corridor.   

The Prime Minister said the situation in Gaza is highly critical as Israel has displayed unprecedented barbarism against Palestinian people.
