Previous govt completely ignored the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: PM Shehabz  

ISLAMABAD, June 13 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that the government will restore peace and make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa a hub of development again.

He was talking to PML-N leadership belonging to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which called on him in Islamabad on Tuesday.

The PML-N delegation includes Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Javed Abbasi, Advisor to Prime Minister Engineer Amir Muqam, Senator Pir Saqib Shah, former MNA Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar, National Assembly Members Sajjad Ahmed, former National Assembly members Shahabuddin Khan, Jamshed Muhammad and for MPA Aurangzeb Nalotha.

During the meeting, the prevailing political situation of the country and consultation on general elections in the province also came under discussion.

The Prime Minister said the previous government completely ignored the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He said special measures have been taken for the development of the merged tribal districts in the budget 2023-24.

Shehbaz Sharif said we will ensure that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa full take benefit from the health and education projects of the federal government. He said we will also provide loans and laptops on easy terms to the talented youth of the province.

The Prime Minister said farmers of province will also be equipped with modern technology along with supply of quality seeds and fertilizer.

On the occasion, the participants appreciated the Prime Minister for including measures for the development of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal districts in the next fiscal year budget.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has directed the authorities concerned to work on upgradation on Railway Main Line One (ML-1) on priority basis.  

Presiding over a review meeting regarding matters relating to Pakistan Railways in Islamabad on Tuesday, he said ML-1 is the backbone of Pakistan Railways.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan will also provide trade corridors to other regional countries in future through its railway system and ports. He said the government is taking various steps on priority basis for the rehabilitation of Pakistan Railways.

The Prime Minister said people are utilizing and taking benefits from education, health and communication projects including motorways initiated during the PML-N term.

He also lauded the efforts of the officials of Pakistan Railways for restoration of rail network after the recent devastating flood in the country.

The meeting was informed that Railways ticketing system has been completely digitized while work on digitalization of other sections of Railways is underway.
