PPP, PML-N & PTI had made false commitments & promises to people of southern Punjab, keeping the region backward: Sirajul Haq
LAHORE, June 08 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq has said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had made false commitments and promises to the people of the southern Punjab, keeping the region backward.
Addressing the ticket-holders of the JI of South Punjab in Multan on Thursday, Sirajul Haq vowed to bring prosperity in the area if people voted the party to power.
Sirajul Haq warned the PPP that the ruling party would be responsible for any situation if it tried to turn the JI majority to minority in Karachi. The people of the port city, he said, had voted for the JI candidates in local body elections and it had the democratic rights to elect its mayor.
The JI chief said the feudal lords and corrupt imperialists ruled over the country and acted as servants of the US. Had the former Soviet Union forces entered into Pakistan in 80s, the ruling elite here would have been faithful to the USSR, he said, adding the rulers were protecting the interests of the international powers, ignoring public interests. He said the tested methods to put old eggs into new buckets would not bring any stability. The people, he said, must reject the already tested faces and bring to the power honest and dedicated leadership.
Sirajul Haq said the rulers were responsible for the destruction of the economy. Instead of introducing good governance, interest-based economy and eliminating corruption, the governments always put reliance on the IMF. So far, he said, the country signed over 23 programs with the international monetary funds but none could bring any change, instead the nation witnessed the collapse of the economy. He said if the JI came to power, it would transform Pakistan into a modern welfare Islamic state. He said the rule of law and durable democratic process were the need of the hour.
