PPP is eager to postpone LB polls to escape from defeat: Sirajul Haq

SUKKUR, Oct 18 (SABAH): Expressing dismay over the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) decision, Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) intends to evade defeat by postponing local bodies (LB) polls.

Sirajul Haq expressed these views while talking to media persons at Sukkur Airport on Tuesday. He said that ECP took this decision after getting pressurized by provincial government which is condemnable act. He added the country’s institutions were held hostage by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM). “Surprisingly, when there is no issue in holding of bye-elections then why does it happen on the occasion of conducting LB polls,” he questioned.

He was of the view that PTI together with PDM devastated the country as both were ruling besides all the mafias belong to them. Wherever there is no free judiciary; there’s no justice.

Emir Jamaat-e-Islmai Sirajul Haq reached Sukkur during his three day long visit. He will address the protesting sit-ins and demonstrations at Jacobabad, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Larkana, Mehar, Dadu and Kandhkot against the delay and corruption in aid activities of flood affected people.

Emir Jamaat-e-Islami said that outcomes of by polls will not manipulate general elections, and added these polls were indeed a contest between the federal and provincial government wherein somewhere central government won while somewhere provincial government remained to be winner. He said no one will be allowed to open the ways for nudity and vulgarity through Transgender Bill; however, added they don’t oppose against handing over rights to the transgender community.

He said the more than one half the country’s population was hit by recent disastrous floods, adding despite the passage of a long period; the government could not formulate a proper plan of restoration and rehabilitation of the victims. Government collected funds from outer world though [it is not known as yet] the way these funds will be utilized, he wondered.

Sirajul Haq said that world organizations were also showing skepticism on the process of rehabilitation whereas the provincial governments have failed in rehabilitation activities. He appealed to the masses to exercise their right to franchise in favour of Jamaat-e-Islami in the elections as it is one and only corruption-free party across the country which has been rendering sacrifices for flood victims till-date. He said majority of PDM and PTI members will be put behind the bars if Articles 62, 63 of Constitution were implemented.

Provincial Naib Emir Professor Nizamuddin Memon, Allama Hizbullah, emir district Sultan Lashari and local emir Zobair Hafeez Sheikh were present on the occasion.
