‘Powerful’ segments want to get the upcoming general elections in Punjab & KP cancelled at all costs: Imran Khan
LAHORE, Mar 11 (SABAH): Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan on Saturday announced leading his party’s election rally himself tomorrow (Sunday) in Lahore at 2:00 PM as he castigated the authorities for “killing” his party worker.
“I will lead the election rally to show them that we are not domesticated animals,” the former prime minister — who was ousted in April last year — told his party workers during his address via video link.
Speaking to his party workers, Imran Khan said that the “powerful” segments want to get the upcoming general elections in Punjab and KP cancelled at all costs.
“They would try to get the polls cancelled by assassinating him or bomb blasts […] I know that they will do something to stop the election,” the PTI chairman added.
Besides others, the PTI chairman also held the “neutrals” and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) responsible for the “brutal murder” of Ali Bilal, also known as Zille Shah. “Zille Shah’s martyrdom not only hurt me but the [entire] nation.”
Reacting to Naqvi’s presser, Imran Khan said that statements from different people were being released to “coverup” the matter. Rubbishing the statement of the interim CM, the PTI leader said the interim government should be ashamed of the murder.
Turning his guns towards the establishment, Imran Khan said a “psychopath” — who he also calls “Dirty Harry” — is spreading hatred in the country. He demanded his resignation but refused to name him.
“They were scared of us as the entire nation stands with the PTI,” claimed the deposed prime minister.
Berating Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan said that an “absconder” is making the country’s decisions while sitting in London. The court had declared him a “national criminal”.
Urging the judiciary to play its role, the PTI leader said that the judiciary was the sole hurdle for the incumbent government in transforming Pakistan into a “banana republic”.
Taking a jibe at caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and IG Punjab over his claims regarding death of Ali Bilal alias Zille Shah, Imran Khan said, “They lied openly before the public” and appealed the Lahore High Court Chief Justice to form a judicial commission for investigation into the matter of Zille Shah’s murder.
The former premier also demanded resignation of caretaker Punjab CM, IGP and others, and held them responsible for violence against his party workers on the rally day in Lahore, and for murder of Zille Shah.
“I want to tell Judiciary and Advocates that you are those that can stop Pakistan from becoming a banana republic,” he added.
The PTI chairman went on to say that the efforts being made to eliminate all the evidence.
Imran Khan went on to say that Minister of Defence Khawaja Asif gave the same statement as Shahbaz Gill but no action was taken against him, adding that he would ask the former SAPM to lodge case against the minister so that he would face the same punishment as he faced.
