Postponing ahead of two-days the LB polls in Sindh by ECP is a highly biased & controversial action: Sirajul Haq
LAHORE, July 21 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Sirajul Haq has said that postponing ahead of two-days the local bodies polls in Sindh by Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is a highly biased and controversial action. He said that ECP in cahoots with the government parties depriving the masses of their right of franchise.
Sirajul Haq said this while talking to central office-bearers at Mansoorah on Thursday. History records that even during war days the electoral process was completed, he noted, and continued what was the emergency that partial decision was taken without listening to political parties.
He maintained that people sentiments will further hurt when the institutions will take decisions in closed rooms, saying while the country can only be taken out of crises with continuity of democratic process and relying on the public opinion.
Sirajul Haq said that the country was destroyed in wake of wars of interest among the ruling political parties like “when Rome was burning Nero was playing flute.” Game of coming into power is underway since several months while masses are being crushed by inflation and unemployed, he added.
Pakistan is faced with hours long load-shedding while rulers sitting in air-conditioned rooms seem busy in politicking, Sirajul Haq deplored, saying edibles have gone out of the range of a layman. On one side there is load-shedding while on the other side electricity unit price is beyond the human imagination.
In return of taking $1.5 billion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the government is threatening to take Rs 40 per unit of electricity, he said. Provision of free of cost electricity and perks and privileges to the ruling class, civil military bureaucracy, judges, Parliament members should come to an end now, he suggested.
He appealed to the incumbent government to slash Rs 100 per litre petrol price besides decreasing gas and edibles prices from 35 to 50 percent. He said that Pakistan Democratic Alliance (PDM) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should not go to an extent that the already destroyed country gets further pitiable but they ought to adopt the seriousness approach.
People homes are being destroyed in heavy rainfalls but the rulers are putting deaf ears to them, Sirajul Haq said, adding dollar rate is going higher as it seems Pakistan currency is going to crash in the days to come. Past and today governments are responsible for the destruction of economy, politics and society of the country, he added.
