Political stability still absent although appointments in Pakistan Army completed: Liaqat Baloch


LAHORE, Nov 29 (SABAH): Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and former parliamentary leader in National Assembly Liaqat Baloch on Tuesday said there is absence of political stability despite the fact the appointment process in Pakistan Army has been completed. He said after the resignations from the National Assembly the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided to dissolve the provincial assemblies giving rise to political turmoil in the country.

Liaqat Baloch said this while addressing the members of political electoral committee and reception of notables belonging to NA-128. The solution political, administrative and economic crises could be premature elections while remaining within the ambit of Constitution, he said, and added if the government and opposition were not ready for holding elections then applying only pressure was of no use as it only exacerbates the situation. 

Without bringing electoral reforms as well as confidence in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) the elections will prove detrimental for democracy and parliamentary system, Liaqat Baloch said, and added still there were 280 days left in holing of general elections as per Constitution.

He said if someone pressures he would be able to lessen only a few days whereas he furthered that former prime minister and Chairman PTI Imran Khan should admit that he could not achieve his goal although his popularity among the people.

Liaqat Baloch stressed upon the need of holding national dialogue among political, national and parliamentary parties for ensuring and holding reliable general elections. Although the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has always talked about ideology of Pakistan and bringing Islamic Economic System but it didn’t took practical steps, he deplored.
