PML-N & PTI promoted the culture of allegations & abusive language during election campaign: Liaqat Baloch

LAHORE, July 17 (SABAH): Naib Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan and former parliamentary leader in national assembly Liaqat Baloch has said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have promoted the culture of allegations and abusive language during election campaign.

Liaqat Baloch said this while addressing the Jamaat-e-Islami workers at the JI’s candidates Khaid Butt and Waqar Butt offices who are taking part in the by-elections of Punjab. In the by-elections, he said, all the codes of conduct were swept under the carpet by the said duo political parties.

Instead of launching constructive and positive election campaigns, the PML-N and PTI extended the culture of allegations and abusive language, Liaqat Baloch said, adding contrary to it, Jamaat-e-Islami candidates regarded revolutionary and welfare aspects whilst elections campaigns.

Once again by-elections proved that democracy and national values were still vulnerable at the hands of PML-N, PTI and their allies, the naib emir Jamaat-e-Islami said, and continued that elements of hatred, revenge and extremism were injected in the masses. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami will safeguard national security, Constitution and democracy, adding the masses will ultimately choose it for prosperous Pakistan over the other parties.

Liaqat Baloch said that former premier Imran Khan reached at agreements with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the worst conditions while, ironically, incumbent regime and its allies confirmed all those ones.

These all the aforementioned political parties show the same attitude on all fronts including internal, external and economic as their common agenda is to dent interests of country and countrymen, he said.

Planning to put by-elections under pressure is afoot, he said, adding so much so the democratic forces are still not ready to build a fully-empowered and independent Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Instead of winding-up role of establishment, the political parties still strive to keep it on their sides, he lamented, adding the national consensus on elections reforms is need of the hour for the conduct of free, fare and transparent elections.

Avoiding from conducting local body polls in Punjab is reflection of Nawaz League and PTI’s undemocratic behavior, he said, adding on the other side local body polls have been held in Sindh, KPK and Blochistan. Liaqat Baloch said the Punjab’s people were deprived of their civic rights and demanded of the government to hold by-elections in Punjab forthwith.
