PML-N leader Siddiq-ul-Farooq passes away in Islamabad after battling a prolonged kidney ailment
ISLAMABAD, Dec 15 (SABAH): Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, journalist, and writer Muhammad Siddiq-ul-Farooq passed away in Islamabad after battling a prolonged kidney ailment on Sunday.
The funeral prayers for the late Siddiq-ul-Farooq will be offered tomorrow (Monday) at 11:00 AM at H-11 Graveyard in Islamabad.
Siddiq-ul-Farooq, a seasoned journalist and author of two books, joined the PML-N in 1993 and remained loyal to the party throughout his life. He served as the press secretary to former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, chairman of the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), and head of the House Building Finance Corporation.
Siddiq-ul-Farooq also spent three years in jail. He remained associated with the field of journalism for a long time and he was the elder brother of senior journalist Azhar Malik
Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of Senior PML-N leader and former chairman of House Building Corporation and Evacuee Trust Property Board Siddique-ul-Farooq.
In a statement on Sunday, he prayed for higher status in heaven for the departed soul. Commiserating with the bereaved family, Shehbaz Sharif said the services of the late Siddique-ul-Farooq for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will always be remembered.
Former Prime Minister and PML-N President Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar Advocate also expressed deep sorrow over the death of Muhammad Siddiq-ul-Farooq.
PML-N parliamentary leader in the Senate, Irfan Siddiqui lauded Siddiq-ul-Farooq’s courage and commitment, highlighting his steadfastness during challenging times. “He bravely fought against dictatorship and refused to turn against Nawaz Sharif, even in the most difficult circumstances,” Siddiqui noted.
Siddiq-ul-Farooq’s dedication to journalism, literature, and politics leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by his party and colleagues, he said.
Despite remaining on big positions, there was no change in his simple temperament and simple life, he said and added his death is a great loss to journalism, politics and nobility while his sacrifices and services for democracy and PML-N are unforgettable.
“A few days before his death, when I went to meet him, his concern for Pakistan, love for Nawaz Sharif and compassion for Muslim League-N were still on his lips,” he said. Senator Irfan Siddiqui prayed that may Almighty Allah raise the status of the deceased and give patience to the heirs.
