PM Shehbaz with consultation of all coalition partners & Opposition Leader will announce the name of caretaker PM: Marriyum Aurangzeb


RAWALPINDI, July 30 (SABAH): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that prime minister and opposition leader enjoys the responsibility to appoint caretaker prime minister constitutionally, adding that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif with consultation of all coalition partners and Opposition Leader Raja Riaz Ahmed Khan will announce the name of the caretaker prime minister. Marriyum Aurangzeb said that she is not part of the committee formed for the appointed of caretaker prime minister, adding that the era is over when you decide the matters in closed door. She said that whichever names will be short-listed these will be decided according to the constitution and will be presented before the nation and their announcement will be made. She said that the prime minister, coalition partners and cabinet will make decision regarding the date of dissolution of the National Assembly and she being the spokesperson of the government will officially announce the decision. She said that the country has moved forward towards economic stability during the last 15 months, adding that Pakistan had bid goodbye to IMF during the tenure of Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and country was economically stable.    

Radio Pakistan on Sunday launched Digital Medium Wave Transmitter project in Rawat. Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb performed the groundbreaking of the project under which a 1000 kilowatt digital transmitter will be installed at HPT complex, Rawat. Secretary Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Sohail Ali Khan and Director General Radio Pakistan Tahir Hassan were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Marriyum Aurangzeb said this digital transmitter will increase the signal strength and range of Radio Pakistan’s broadcasts to several countries in Central Asia, Middle East, Far East and eastern Europe in addition to south Asia.

She said the project is a milestone in modernizing the state broadcaster and enhancing the quality of its broadcast.

She said national broadcasters are identity of a country and they should be made efficient.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said the modern transmitter based on Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) technology, can transmit up to four different signals simultaneously and will save 33 percent of electricity which in turn will reduce the expenses of state broadcaster.

She said this is translation of Prime Minister’s vision for IT promotion as this digital transmitter will increase employment opportunities and youth engagement with the Radio.

The Minister said Radio Pakistan’s national archives have been digitized and will be inaugurated formally by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif this week.

She also announced that Pakistan’s first media city will also be set-up in Rawat.

The Minister congratulated the whole nation especially Radio listeners on launch of this project and appreciated the Secretary Information, Director General Radio Pakistan and all officials who put in their efforts to start the project.

She directed the Director General Radio Pakistan to complete the project within one year, ahead of two years stipulated time.
