PM Shehbaz vows to defeat polio in Pakistan


ISLAMABAD, June 27 (SABAH): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday has expressed his resolve to defeat polio and make the anti-polio campaign a success.        

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said that this five-day campaign aims at targeting 25 districts which are most vulnerable to the virus.

He regretted that the deadly virus which threatens the future of the country’s children has not been fully eliminated from the country.

Meanwhile, a nation-wide five-day anti-polio campaign began from Monday.

According to spokesperson of the Ministry of National Health Services, the anti-polio drive aims to immunize 12.6 million children.

In a statement issue here, Minister for National Health Services Abdul Qadir Patel said that 25 districts have been declared sensitive in this regard.

He said that more than hundred thousand trained frontline workers will go door-to-door to vaccinate children.

He appealed to the parents to get their children vaccinated during the campaign.

He said that vaccination can save children from lifelong disability.
