PM Shehbaz Sharif casts his vote in Senate election

ISLAMABAD, Apr 02 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif cast his vote on Tuesday in the Senate election held at the Parliament House.

Pakistan Muslim League Qyaud and former prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Deputy Speaker Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah also cast their votes.

In the election, Rana Mehmoodul Hassan Khan of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) contested for the general seat, while Mohammad Ishaq Dar of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is in the run for the technocrat seat.

Both Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Rana Mahmoodul Hassan have been elected Senators. On technocrat seat, Ishaq Dar secured 222 votes while Raja Ansar Mahmood of Sunni Ittehad Council got 81 votes.

On general seat, Rana Mahmoodul Hassan won with 224 votes while his rival candidate Farzand Hussain Shah of Sunni Ittehad Council could get 79 votes.
