PM Shehbaz interacts with King Charles III & British PM Rishi Sunak

LONDON/ISLAMABAD, May 05 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif interacted with King Charles III and the Prime Minister of Britain Rishi Sunak on the sidelines of the meeting of other leaders of Commonwealth countries on Friday in London.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif felicitated both the British dignitaries for the excellent arrangements made for the elaborate two-day ceremonies being held to celebrate the coronation of the new King.

The Prime Minister also expressed deep appreciation for the UKs generous assistance in the wake of the disastrous floods that struck Pakistan last year. He suggested that both countries needed to enhance the bilateral relations in various fields. In this regard, the Prime Minister proposed the establishment of a joint commission that would be headed by the leaders of the two countries.

King Charles III and the British PM Rishi Sunak also showed their interest in further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries and praised the Pakistan community based in the UK for its role in the development of the UK.
Meanwhile Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb in a statement issued on twitter on Friday said that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif participated in the Commonwealth Leaders Event in London on Friday. He is in London to attend the coronation of King Charles III taking place today (Saturday), Marriyum Aurangzeb said. She said that the Prime Minister met King Charles at the Event and offered him felicitations on behalf of the people of Pakistan on his coronation.

“He also extended an invitation to King Charles to visit Pakistan. King Charles recalled his previous visit to Pakistan in his conversation with the Prime Minister” Marriyum Aurangzeb said. She also shared the pictures of the meeting of PM Shehbaz Sharif with Prince Charles III.

In a separate statement issued on twitter Marriyum Aurangzeb said that PM Shehbaz Shairf also held a meeting with the British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak on the sidelines of the Commonwealth Leaders Event.

The two leaders exchanged views on further strengthening ties and increasing cooperation between Pakistan and Britain.
