PM Shehbaz highlights supremacy of Constitution as a panacea to address the national challenges


ISLAMABAD, April 27 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has highlighted the supremacy of Constitution as a panacea to address the national challenges.

In a meeting with former President Asif Ali Zardari and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PM Shehbaz Sharif stated that the coming together of Pakistan’s political parties on an agenda of public welfare and democracy augurs well for the country.

During the meeting the current political situation of the country was also discussed. Prime minister congratulated Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on taking oath as federal minister and expressed the resolve that with the mutual cooperation soon the challenges faced by the country will be overcome.

Federal Ministers Khawaja Muhammad Asif and Khawaja Muhammad Saad Rafique were also present during the meeting.

Meanwhile Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Security, Shazia Atta Marri called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif  in Islamabad on Wednesday and a gave a detailed briefing to him about her ministry.

The Minister apprised the Prime Minister of the proposed procedure of appeal for eight hundred and twenty thousand people who were excluded from Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) by the previous government without any inspection.

Welcoming the procedure of appeal, the Prime Minister directed that inclusion of the deserving people disqualified from the income support program without any reason, must be ensured.

Meanwhile Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has called for reforms in the power sector on priority basis. Talking to Minister for Power Khurram Dastgir in Islamabad on Wednesday, he also directed to take steps for immediate operationalization of the remaining closed power houses.

On the occasion, the Prime Minister was informed about the steps taken so far for ending power outages in the country from the 1st of next month.
