PM Shehbaz directs to send relief goods to Turkiye in an organized manner through NDMA
LAHORE, Feb 19 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has hailed Pakistani relief organizations for their activities in the earthquake-hit areas of Turkiye and Syria.
PM Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday chaired the high level meeting regarding ongoing relief activities by Pakistan for the earthquake affectees of Turkiye and Syria. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the relief organizations working in Pakistan including Edhi Foundation, Saylani Welfare Trust and Alkhidamt Foundation Pakistan.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said that country’s philanthropist organizations have made the nation proud over rendering the relief service in Turkiye and Syria. He further said that all the aid going from Pakistan should be integrated through sending it by the NDMA.
He said that the better provision of relief goods in Syria and Turkiye is possible through NDMA. He directed the authorities concerned to dispatch goods in Turkiye and Syria as per their requirement.
On the directives of the Prime Minister, a sub-committee headed by Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has been constituted to exchange the information with government institutions and human welfare organizations regarding goods to be dispatched in Turkiye and Syria.
PM Shehbaz Sharif said that the Pakistani relief organizations are prominent in helping the Muslim brethren in the earthquake-hit areas of Turkiye and Syria.
The Prime Minister directed to send relief goods to Turkiye in an organized manner through National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). He said that the relief goods should be sent to Turkiye keeping in view the requirements.
Edhi Foundation Chief Faisal Edhi, Saylani Welfare Trust Chief Maulana Bashir Ahmed Farooqui, Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Muhammad Abdul Shakoor briefed the meeting about the relief activities being carried out by their respective organization in earthquake affected areas of Turkiye and Syria. The meeting was informed that the Pakistani welfare organizations have sent the medical teams in Turkiye and Syria; meanwhile tents, medicines, food items, blankets and arm clothes have also been sent. Prime minister while appreciating these steps directed the government institutions especially the NDMA to remain in contact continuously with the Pakistani welfare organizations and stressed upon the need to send the relief assistance according to the needs of the earthquake affectees in an organized manner.
The meeting was attended by Edhi Foundation Chief Faisal Edhi, Saylani Welfare Trust Chief Maulana Bashir Ahmed Farooqui, Vice President Alkhidmat Foundation Pakistan Muhammad Abdul Shakoor, Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry, State Minister for Finance and Revenue Dr. Aysha Ghaus Pasha, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Coordination, Syed Tariq Fatemi, Pakistani Ambassadors for Turkiye and Syria, Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, Foreign Secretary Dr. Asad Majeed Khan and other officials.
