PM Shehbaz assures flood & rain affectees of whole Balochistan to provide financial assistance to compensate losses
JHAL MAGSI, July 30 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif took an aerial visit of flood affected areas of Balochistan and viewed damages caused by recent monsoon rains. PM Shehbaz Sharif has assured the flood and rain affectees of whole Balochistan to provide financial assistance to compensate losses. Shehbaz Sharif during his visit met with flood and rain affectees and inquired about their problems.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the authorities concerned to immediately set up a medical camp and supply medicines in the affected villages.
He asked the authorities for the provision of two more boats immediately to speed up the relief operations and ration in the affected villages.
Shehbaz Sharif also visited Jhal Magsi and interacted with flood-affected people in Shambani. He directed to accelerate relief activities and provide food and other relief items to affected families. Shehbaz Sharif said that the rains in Balochistan have broken record of previous 30 years. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that in whole Pakistan over 300 people died due to the heavy rains and floods, adding that in Balochistan 124 people including women, men, children died and a large number of people have been injured due to the heavy rains and floods. He said that the financial assistance is not the compensation of any life, adding that federal government will provide assistance of Rs 1 million to the heirs of the died persons and provincial government separately will also pay Rs 1 million.
Shehbaz Sharif said that Rs 0.5 million will be paid to those whose homes were destroyed due to the rains and floods, adding that Rs 0.2 million will be paid for the partially damaged houses. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that he has set up committee to assess and conduct survey of the losses caused by rains and floods to crops and animals, adding that he has summoned meeting on 3rd August in Islamabad.
Shehbaz Sharif said that six major dams of Balochistan including Hub Dam and Mirani Dam remained safe in heavy rains, adding that the agenda of progress and prosperity of Balochistan is very near to his heart. He said that highest funds have been allocated for Balochistan province in current year’s PSDP program of federal government, adding that we have allocated Rs 100 billion for Balochistan. PM Shehbaz Sharif said that this beautiful province of Pakistan has remained behind in race of development but we will make all out efforts and the day will certainly come when Balochistan will also be in par with other provinces in terms of development and prosperity.
The Prime Minister also directed to ensure availability of veterinary doctors for animals.
On the directive of Prime Minister, the Chief Secretary Balochistan dispatched teams in affected areas to accelerate relief activities.
Earlier, the Prime Minister also visited Jacobabad where he was briefed about relief activities in flood-affected areas.
Balochistan Awami Party Parliamentary Party leader in National Assembly Mir Khalid Hussain Magsi and other high officials were also present on the occasion.
