PM Imran Khan expresses hope that the world would not repeat mistake of disengaging with Afghanistan

ISLAMABAD, Dec 20 (SABAH): Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed the hope that the world would not repeat the mistake of disengaging with Afghanistan, and support the vulnerable people of the war-torn country.

He was talking to the OIC Secretary General Hissien Brahim Taha and foreign ministers of various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran and Malaysia, who separately called on him on the sidelines of Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Islamabad.

The Prime Minister expressed confidence that the Extraordinary Session of the OIC’s foreign ministers would provide impetus to the member states to assist Afghanistan.

He urged international community to find additional ways for long-term reconstruction and infrastructure development in Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan is committed to facilitate humanitarian organizations in their humanitarian support to Afghanistan to alleviate the sufferings of Afghan people.

The OIC Secretary General and the foreign ministers lauded Pakistan for hosting the Extraordinary session of OIC foreign ministers to mobilize international community for supporting the people of Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds.
