Petition filed in High Court against delay in AJK’s prime ministerial elections

MUZAFFARABAD, April 18 (SABAH): A writ petition was filed in the High Court of Azad Kashmir regarding the delay in the prime ministerial elections whereas President of state Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry, Speaker of the Assembly Chaudhry Anwarul Haq and Secretary Assembly including secretary law have been made parties.

The case has been filed under Article 17 of the Constitution by lawyers Abid Khan, Raja Zulqarnain, Ali Abdullah and Waqar Farooq Abbasi. In the text of the submitted petition, it is said that the election of the Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir is being continuously delayed.

According to the rules, immediate election is necessary for appointment to the post of Prime Minister, the court should issue a decision on immediate election.

In the petition, the President, Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Speaker of the Assembly have been made parties. According to law, Azad Jammu and Kashmir is a superior legislative institution in the state.
