People’s Party which approved the construction of six canals from the Indus River should leave power & step out of the Presidency: Ameerul Azeem
MIRPUR KHAS, April 3 (SABAH): Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s Secretary General, Ameerul Azeem, stated that the People’s Party, which approved the construction of six canals from the Indus River, should step out of power and leave the Presidency instead of shedding crocodile tears through protests.
Ameerul Azeem was addressing the participants of an Eid Milan gathering organized by Jamaat-e-Islami Mirpur Khas on Thursday. He said the role of parties in power is not to protest but to take practical steps.
He criticized those who condition tax reductions for the public on IMF approval while simultaneously increasing their own hefty perks and salaries, thereby looting the national treasury.
He said that under the banner of “Green Pakistan,” people are being shown false dreams, while the country is already facing a severe water shortage. Adding to this injustice, the water of poor farmers is being snatched away, and in the name of irrigating barren lands, the elite and a specific class are being benefited under the guise of corporate farming.
He further stated that rental power plants and independent power producers (IPPs) were established, the consequences of which the nation is still suffering today.
Speaking on Gaza, he said that blood is being shed there, and this blood will carve its own path. Now, it is not just Palestine, but the downfall of Israel and Washington that is imminent, he alarmed. The situation in Gaza has awakened the conscience of people worldwide, and for the first time, people around the globe are witnessing the war conditions in Gaza in real-time, he added.
He said seeing the heartbreaking situation, Christians, Jews, Black and White people alike are raising their voices, yet, unfortunately, our rulers remain silent spectators and have not even raised an effective voice.
Ameerul Azeem warned that the power of Allah is testing us, and if we do not change our ways, we too will soon face divine retribution. The event was attended by Jamaat-e-Islami workers, lawyers, journalists, city dignitaries, and a large number of people.
