People from Turkey will invest in sectors like e-commerce, tourism, education, infrastructure & hydro power generation: PM Shehbaz


ANKARA, June 01 (SABAH): Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif says Pak-Turk relations are embedded in common cultural, religious and spiritual heritage transcending boundaries of time, geography and politics.

Addressing a joint news conference along with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Wednesday, PM Shehbaz Sharif said high-level strategic cooperation have become instrumental to explore Pak-Turk shared interest.

He welcomed announcement from Turkish President to hold next session of high level meeting in Islamabad in the month of September. Shehbaz Sharif said that the people of Pakistan will accord very warm welcome to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during Pakistan visit.

The Prime Minister said a strong business delegation is also visiting Pakistan next June which will have productive results. He expressed hope that people from Turkey will invest in sectors like e-commerce, tourism, education, infrastructure and hydro power generation.

On the occasion Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that during the one on one meeting and delegation level talks we discussed the regional international matters in great detail. He said that at bilateral and international platforms we have once again reaffirmed determination to increase our cooperation.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that we have once again reaffirmed our determination to increase the scope of cooperation, the high level strategic cooperation council’s consecutive following seventh meeting will be held in our country and we will continue our work for that and during the talks we held today we have come to terms that hopefully and must probably this meeting will take place in September in Pakistan.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that fraternity, close relations and friendship in both of our countries will be further strengthened and we are ready for that. Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that if you look defense industry, with Pakistan we have had concrete cooperation projects which make us very happy. Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that we have also grown mutual trade volume and it has exceeded the figure of $1 billion for the first time after 2010 and our aim is to achieve the figure of $5 billion.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that we support Pakistan their efforts against all types of terrorism. He said that another issue in the region is Kashmir issue and in line with legitimate expectations of our brothers and sisters from Kashmir, we support the solution of the problem in line with the United Nations Resolutions.

Meanwhile seven memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed during the visit of PM Shehbaz Sharif to Turkey.

The MoUs include:

1) Memorandum of Understanding between the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, Presidency of the Republic of Türkiye and Public Private Partnership Authority of Pakistan.

2) Framework For Knowledge Sharing Program between the Government of Türkiye and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

3) Memorandum of Understanding on Highway Engineering between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Communications of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan

4) Joint Ministerial Statement on Developing Bilateral Trade and Economic Relations between the Republic of Türkiye and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

5) Technical Cooperation Protocol between the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of the Republic of Türkiye and Ministry of Finance of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

6) Cooperation Protocol on Debt Management between the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of the Republic of Türkiye and the Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

7) Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change of the Republic of Türkiye and NAYA Pakistan Housing and Development Authority (NAPHDA) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan on Cooperation in the field of Housing
