People are being deceived on name of digital census: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

KARACHI, Aug 6 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi, Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that Karachi’s population has been counted by 14.5 million less.

Talking to media persons here on Sunday, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that people were being deceived on the name of digital census and added all the stakeholders stabbed the city’s interests together. He added that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) like party was given no weightage in the coastal city of Karachi.

He said that during the previous day, Council of Common Interests (CCI) approved the seventh census and added on our protest, census was delayed for a month which was only a pump and show as facts and figures had already been agreed.

Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi commented, “During the regime change of Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), the interests of the city were badly damaged.”

He remarked, “Muttahida Qaumi Movement terms itself a representative party of the city but it did not object to the entire process and accepted it. After the previous census, planned had been completed for committing a fraud in the days to come. If they accept this census, it would be an act of cruelty against the city.”

How did Murad Ali Shah accept the census during the CII meeting, emir Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi questioned, adding Jamaat-e-Islami has decided to knock the doors of court in this regard.

He noted, “A number of objections were raised on the census of 2017 as there were issues in the first phase house counting. When census was begun there were objections too.”

Engr. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman maintained those who had no address of Karachi but were living here, they were not counted. At present, he said, people of interior Sindh were residing in Karachi which is why they should be counted in the census. “A large number of people from Punjab alongside our Pakhtoon brothers are also residing in Karachi,”
