Parliament of Pakistan committed to legislate to ensure the rights & welfare of working class: Raja Pervez Ashraf

ISLAMABAD, April 30 (SABAH): In their separate messages on the occasion of the International Labour Day being observed today (Monday), Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf and Deputy Speaker National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani have said that Labour Day provides an opportunity to pay tribute to the services of the working and labour class whose services for development and progress of the country are unmatchable.

Raja Pervez Ashraf said “Remembering the struggle of the workers who died in Chicago against oppression, exploitation and injustice, we pay tribute to the important role that the working class has played in the nation’s development,” He said that this day is to commemorate and appreciate the contribution of millions of workers in the development of country. On this occasion, the NA Speaker said that the Parliament of Pakistan is committed to legislate to ensure the rights and welfare of working class.

He said that the present democratic government was formulating pro-labor policies for the development and prosperity of the workers. He stressed upon the labourers to keep doing the substantive work for the development and prosperity of the country.

In his message on the occasion of International Labour Day, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani paid homage to the workforce of the world and said that the workforce is the backbone of every country’s socio-economic development. He said that the present democratic government in the country was taking steps on priority basis for the welfare of the working class and their families. He said that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif in his first speech after being elected raised minimum monthly wage 25,000 rupees per month which is a reflection of the protection of the rights of the working class. He reiterated the government’s commitment to protect the rights of the working class and provide them a better quality of life.
