Pakistan & Qatar enjoy close & cordial fraternal ties: PM Shehbaz


ISLAMABAD, Dec 07, (SABAH): Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Pakistan, Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani called on Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif in his office on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed well wishes to the leadership and people of Pakistan from brotherly people and leadership of Qatar on hosting the ongoing FIFA World Cup.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appreciated the positive trajectory of the bilateral relations. He congratulated Qatari leadership for successful hosting of FIFA-2022 World Cup in Qatar. He lauded remarkable reforms undertaken by the State of Qatar in the field of labour. Prime Minister remarked that Pakistan feels pleased and honoured to assist in World Cup by providing security personnel for the FIFA World Cup 2022. It is a matter of pride that ‘Al-Rihla’, the football being used in the World Cup is ‘Made in Pakistan’. Pakistan and Qatar enjoy close and cordial fraternal ties, rooted deep in shared faith, mutual trust and understanding, and close cooperation. Qatar is home to more than 210,000 Pakistanis, who are contributing to the progress, prosperity and economic development of the two brotherly countries.

Meanwhile China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rong called on the Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday.

Welcoming the Ambassador, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recalled his visit to China on 1-2 November 2022, which had demonstrated the abiding vitality of the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership. On behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, the Prime Minister reiterated his profound condolences on the tragic demise of former Chinese President Jiang Zemin, noting that he was a trusted friend of Pakistan whose loss would be felt keenly.

The Prime Minister and Chinese Ambassador discussed major outcomes of the recent high-level visit, agreeing on the need for effective follow-up to translate understandings reached in Beijing between the Prime Minister and China’s leadership into tangible benefits for both countries and peoples.
