Pakistan is expected to receive scattered pre-monsoon rain beginning from Sunday
ISLAMABAD, June 25 (SABAH): Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has said scattered rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to persist throughout the week till June 30 in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat and other cities in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan (G-B), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Punjab regions.
Similarly, rain may lash Sindh, Balochistan and Southern Punjab from June 26 to June 29.
Sharing PMD’s advisory on Twitter, Climate Change Minister Sherry Rehman wrote that heavy rain may cause urban flooding and trigger landslides in mountainous areas such as Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir, G-B and K-P.
Flash floods are also feared in DG Khan and adjoining areas of North East Balochistan on June 27. The minister directed all relevant departments to remain alert and advised tourists to exercise caution.
“Citizens are requested to stay away from weak infrastructure, power poles, and watercourses during strong winds and rains to avoid any untoward incidents. Thank you,” she tweeted.
