Pakistan is committed to robust geo-economic policy: Yousaf Raza Gilani

SUJAWAL, June 4 (SABAH): The Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan is committed to pursuing a robust geo-economic policy that prioritizes regional developmental cooperation and trade as a vehicle of shared prosperity.

He was speaking as chief guest at the roll-out ceremony of Shehzore Truck organized by Dewan Farooq Motors and KIA in Sujawal, Sindh on Tuesday.

The Chairman Senate felicitated Dewan Farooq Motors and KIA on achieving this remarkable milestone, highlighting its significance not only for the companies involved but also for Pakistan’s industrial progress and development. 

The launch of the Kia Shehzore truck represents a turning point in automotive excellence, showcasing the dedication to innovation and hard work within Pakistan’s industrial landscape, he observed. He also emphasized the vital role of the automobile sector in driving economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and fostering technological advancement.

“I strongly believe that advancement in the transport and automobile sector will create a win-win situation for regional countries by fostering regional trade, creating jobs and stimulating economic growth”, the Chairman Senate added. 

Commending the South Korea’s economic transformation fueled by its automobile industry, he urged the Pakistan’s automotive industry to embrace innovation, emphasizing the importance of affordability and safety standards in making Electric Vehicles (EVs) accessible to all consumers.

He also called on the auto manufacturers to proactively pioneer a greener future for Pakistan by embracing electric mobility and help reduce carbon footprint and combat climate change. “Let us become partners in our national environmental conservation efforts and jointly address the challenges of urban pollution and energy efficiency”, Chairman Senate emphasized.

Furthermore, he commended Dewan Motors’ plans to introduce electric passenger vehicles (EVs), aligning with national and international sustainability goals. The Chairman Senate called for Benefiting from Pakistan’s demographic dividend of youthful workforce. He emphasized the need for investments in training and skills development by the automobile industry to harness the potential of young population, in our common endeavor to propel progress and prosperity.

He advocated public-private partnerships to drive innovation, investment, and sustainable growth in the automotive sector, positioning Pakistan as a hub of innovation and sustainable transportation solutions.

“I have full faith that the Pakistani automobile industry will become a significant engine for economic growth. Let us continue to foster partnerships, invest in research and development, and support the growth of the automotive industry for the betterment of our nation”, remarked Chairman Senate. 

He reiterated his commitment to supporting an environment conducive to public-private collaboration, research and development, and market access for indigenous products, envisioning a bright future for Pakistan’s automobile industry. The roll-out ceremony was attended among others by including Ik Tae Kim, Senior Vice President of KIA Motors, and members of the management of Dewan Farooq Motors.
