Pakistan & Iran could play a constructive role for unity among the ranks of Muslim Ummah: Sirajul Haq

ISLAMABAD/LAHORE, May 04 (SABAH): Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini called on Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Emir Sirajul Haq on Thursday. Both sides discussed relations between two brotherly countries, regional situation and matters of mutual interests.

Seyed Mohammad Ali Hosseini also extended invitation of visit of Iran to the Emir JI, saying the latter’s tour could be helpful in further strengthening ties between Islamabad and Tehran. He appreciated the JI efforts for the unity of Muslim Ummah. The Iranian diplomat highlighted the need of direct flights between the capitals of Iran and Pakistan, and also informed the JI emir about establishment of easy visa facility for Pakistanis.

The JI chief said there was dire need to further strengthen relations between the two Islamic neighbors and also proposed bloc among Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan. He said that the good economic and trade relations among the three countries could be helpful in boosting economic condition and eliminate poverty in the region. He said Pakistan and Iran could play a constructive role for the unity among the ranks of Muslim Ummah.

Meanwhile, Sirajul Haq, along with other leadership, attended the Supreme Court hearing on the JI appeal for the release of Gwadar Rights Movement leader Maulana Hidayatur Rahman. Later, talking to journalists, he expressed hope that the top court would order release of Baloch in a false and fabricated case. He assured the people of Balochistan that the JI would continue struggle at all forums for their rights.

Sirajul Haq also highlighted the need for the general elections, saying the national vote was the only solution to the prevailing economic, political and constitutional crises. He appealed to the Supreme Court and the Parliament to hold ceasefire and pay attention on the problems of common people. He said the country had turned into laughing stock in the world due to fight between the two sides. He said it was responsibility of the political parties to provide suitable environment to the people for elections. He said the JI would continue contacts with the political parties to evolve consensus among them on the elections.

Furthermore, the JI emir has announced the countrywide protest demonstrations against the inflation. He appealed to the people to ensure their presence in the rallies, which scheduled to be held in all major and small cities on Sunday, and raise voice against the skyrocketing prices of basic commodities.
