ISLAMABAD/MULTAN, Dec 23 (SABAH): Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi says Pakistan welcomes two important developments taken place in support of the Afghan people following the extraordinary session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) in Islamabad.
In a tweet, he said the UN Security Council has adopted a resolution to provide aid to Afghanistan, supporting basic needs.
In another development, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said the United States has exempted US and UN officials doing permitted business with Taliban from US sanctions to help ease aid flow.
Addressing a reception at Multan on Thursday, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan has become a center of diplomatic activities due to our sincere diplomatic efforts.
He said that the previous government did not assign the portfolio of Foreign Minister to anyone which attempted to solitude Pakistan diplomatically.
He said the PTI government is committed to put the country on the path of development and make it a dignified country under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The Foreign Minister said that Pakistan always desired peace, prosperity and development in the region. We think if Afghanistan becomes peaceful then the entire region will be peaceful.
He said that the top priority at the moment is to protect 38 million Afghans from Hunger and poverty. He maintained that Pakistan took the first step to highlight the sufferings of Afghans in the world and Almighty Allah has blessed us with historic diplomatic success.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that we are working sincerely for economic development of Pakistan through effective Economic diplomacy.
He said that the PTI government has constituted foreign policy as per the aspirations of people of Pakistan under which relations are being built on an equality basis with all nations.
