PAC summons details of all officers with dual nationality & working on extension in all state institutions

ISLAMABAD, Sep 06 (SABAH): Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the parliament on Tuesday summoned details of all those officers having dual nationality and working on extension in all state institutions including judiciary besides recommending putting in place legislation barring them from holding public office.

The meeting of parliamentary Public Accounts Committee was held here with Noor Alam Khan in the chair. While briefing the PAC meeting, Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Aftab Sultan said that five critical cases have been opened, pertaining to the era of previous government headed by Imran Khan, including Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project case, Billion Tree Tsunami and illegitimate use of helicopter.

On the directions of Secretary Establishment, former principal secretary of ex-PM Imran Khan, Muhammad Azam Khan made it clear in front of the committee members that neither he held any meeting with a woman named Tayyaba Gull nor he invited her to hold a meeting with him. He further revealed before the committee members that all the relevant record may be summoned from the Protocol Wing and added he did not exceed his powers. He regretted that the PAC couldn’t reach him as his cell number was changed.

The PAC recommended suspending Chairman Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances, Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal from his position in the light of allegations hurled by Tayyaba Gull.

The PAC also summoned Secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) today [Wednesday],  for remaining inaction on recovery from Imran Khan despite the fact he is defaulter of Rs 70 million and came hard on NAB for not sharing information about him being defaulter. Criticising the former PM Imran Khan, MNA Sheikh Rohale Asghar informed the committee of how he blackmailed Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal through a woman Tayyaba Gull.

It is relevant to note that Tayyaba had not only leveled allegations against Iqbal but had also accused Imran Khan for detaining her along with her husband in Prime Minister Office when she had met him to lodge a complaint.

Earlier, PAC had also sent a recommendation to Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif for the removal of Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal as the Chairman of the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances in light of these allegations. The audit paras relating to Oil & Gas Development Company Ltd (OGDCL) were also settled during the PAC meeting.
