Over half of Pakistanis (57%) report that all members of their families voted for the same party: Gallup & Gilani Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, May 14 (SABAH): According to a survey conducted by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, over half of Pakistanis (57%) report that all members of their families voted for the same party, while 29% report family members voting autonomously.
A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the country who voted in the recent elections was asked the question, “Please tell whether all the members of your family voted for the same political party or different people voted for different parties?” In response, 57% said ‘All family members voted for the same party’, 29% said ‘Different members voted for different parties’, and 14% said that they did not know or gave no response.
Likelihood of different family members voting for different political parties during the 2024 General elections was higher among voters in rural areas (32%) compared to those in urban areas (24%).
The study in Pakistan was conducted and released by Gallup & Gilani Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1,017 men and women in urban and rural areas of all four provinces of the country, conducted from 29th February – 15th March 2024. The error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 percent at the 95% confidence level. The methodology used for data collection was telephonic surveys (CATI).
