Our struggle is for the people & this struggle will continue: Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

LAHORE, Sep 4 (SABAH): Emir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Engineer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that those who are making propaganda from opposition parties should know that it is harming the people and benefiting the government. He said all options including sit-ins, long marches, shutter downs and wheel jam strikes are available to implement the agreement made with the government. He said that membership campaign has started from September 1 across the country, online membership is also going on and they would also go street to street. The doors of Jamaat-e-Islami are open for everyone who wants to fight for the rights of the people and serve the nation. He appealed to the businessmen to unite and support us.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman expressed these views while talking to business leaders at Mansoorah. Secretary General Ameerul Azim, Naib Emir Dr. Osama Razi, Information Secretary JI Qaiser Sharif, Emir JI Central Punjab Javed Kasuri and Emir JI Lahore Ziauddin Ansari Advocate were also present on this occasion. Leaders of various business organizations of Lahore participated in the event and there was a consultation on the future action plan against unjust taxes.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman mphasized that the government must honor the agreement it signed with the JI following their sit-in or prepare to face public backlash. “We will consider all options, including a long march and sit-in in Islamabad, as well as shutter-down and wheel-jam strikes,” he said.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Jamaat-e-Islami has decided that it will not unite with any political party but unite with the people. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami invites political workers of all parties to be a part of the Haq Do movement. He said that women will also be made members during the membership drive.

He said that the businessmen were consulted before the sit-in against the increase in electricity tariff, cruel contracts of IPPs and illegal taxes, adding similarly they consulted the businessmen on the strike and gave them an opportunity to unite and announce the strike. Jamaat-e-Islami announced strike after their announcement. He said, “We do not talk about credit, our struggle is for the people and this struggle will continue.”

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the JI has officially launched a nationwide membership drive, with the ambitious goal of recruiting five million new members. After this drive, JI plans to form public committees and mobilize the masses to fight for their rights.

The movement, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman explained, will focus on strengthening democracy, upholding the rule of law, ensuring freedom of speech, and providing universal access to health and education. The movement will also include a strong emphasis on women’s rights. He stressed that the JI will prioritize youth and women in its ranks, with land reforms and electoral reforms as key items on the party’s agenda.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman urged traders to join JI and take part in the struggle for both their own rights and the rights of the public. He also criticized previous governments led by the PML-N, PPP, and PTI, accusing them of favoring IPPs over the public. He highlighted that IPPs receive more in capacity charges than the entire defense budget and benefit from tax exemptions, while ordinary citizens bear the burden of heavy taxation.

Expressing deep concern for the nation’s youth, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman lamented their diminishing opportunities, with many choosing to leave the country. He pointed out that millions of children are out of school, and basic healthcare remains inaccessible to a significant portion of the population.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman demanded from the government to ensure the provision of the rights given to women by Islam, to give women the right to inherit, to create a dignified and safe transport system for women. He said the women employees should be made permanent, health and education facilities should be ensured for women and women’s universities should be established in every city.

Talking about the World Hijab Day, he said that dowry is a curse and other ignorant rituals including marriage with Quran should be abolished. Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that the west has exploited the woman, that is why the woman of the West is alone but in our society, a woman has her father, brother, son and husband. He said the west talks a lot about freedom, but does not allow women to wear hijab.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Pakistan was achieved on the basis of an ideology, but the constitution and laws of the state of Pakistan were not made in accordance with Islam. He said women are exploited in the name of women’s rights under government patronage by NGOs, western culture itself has made western women unsafe, western family system is not safe.
